Exploring a Unique Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have discovered plenty of engaging independent titles. Yet, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure lets you play a protagonist that is actually a piece of poop trying to make its way to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."

How you interact is simple: you only need a single jump button. Throughout 150 stages, encounter mini-bosses and visit a market to purchase skins for your dung hero.

Execute your jumps with caution, since one wrong move forces beginning again. Leap using bubbles to launch your character higher, cross disappearing surfaces, and activate triggers to reveal secret routes. Earn UN-KOINS for buying challenging game content in which the action intensifies.

Visually, the game features neon environments and catchy soundtrack. Its minimalist graphics featuring morphing abstract forms may remind gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's hard to recall previous releases where you control a piece of feces, video games often included scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, players craft grenades from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as soil enrichment. Naturally, fecal references shows up a lot in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already earned significant accolades, including being named best at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is available now on Steam, with the final release set to launch on Steam this November.
